In 87 innings, Scott struck out 112 and compiled a 6-3 record with 4 saves and a 2.06 ERA.

OTD in 1995 in the Sally League (South Atlantic League), the Fayetteville Generals lose a game 6-1 to the Savannah Cardinals. But in the loss, four Fayetteville pitchers combine to strike out 19 Cardinals, including Generals pitcher Scott Gardner striking out 5 in one inning. Gardner, at that time, became the fourth pitcher in professional baseball history to accomplish the feat.

For the season, Gardner pitched in 49 games (1 start) for Fayetteville in 1995. In 87 innings, Scott struck out 112 and compiled a 6-3 record with 4 saves and a 2.06 ERA. The 1995 Fayetteville Generals also featured future MLB players P Francisco Cordero, OF Juan Encarnación (team HR leader with 16), and OF Daryle Ward (team RBI leader with 106).
