After his stellar season with the Goobers in 1913, winning 21 in 38 games pitched with a 2.54 ERA, Hedgpeth’s contract was purchased by Clark Griffith’s Washington Senators.
OTD July 23
In the Majors, Valdivielso hit .221 in 94 games for Washington in 1955 but still finished 24th in the American League MVP voting thanks to his fielding skills playing Shortstop for the Senators
Happy Birthday (July 11) to Bob Allison
Surprising his peers in his first full season in the Majors, Allison would hit 30 HRs with the Senators in 1959.
